Carols by Candlelight
A fabulous evening was shared by the Joondalup community on Tuesday. Arts works were displayed on digital platforms and students performed Christmas songs on stage. A huge effort goes into putting the night together, and I would like to thank Miss O’Conner and Mrs Sweet for creating such a lovely evening. Congratulations to all the families who won raffle prizes! IGA Candlewood donated items for the sausage sizzle which was super generous of them.

What an amazing last term we have been having and it’s not over yet! This term we have been consolidating all our learning from the year, whilst discovering animals that live under the sea. During our literacy sessions, we have been reading lots of different stories about sea animals such as The Rainbow Fish, Chester the Crab, Commotion in the Ocean and many more! We have been having lots of fun completing some water play as we are developing our fine motor skills, letter and number recognition.
We have also been looking at special places in our school for our Geography lessons and have been visiting the vegetable garden and learning about all the fruits and vegetables that are growing and how we can take care of them. We even got to make our own fruit salad, which we all enjoyed!
Finally, we have been summarising all our letter knowledge we have been discovering this year. When we were reviewing the letter V we decided to make volcanoes and watch them erupt! Everyone had a blast! We can’t wait for the last few weeks of school and all the fun things we are going to get to do.
From Room 23
George, Henry, Jasmine, Jaxon, Rahaf, Teddy, Mrs Spicer, Mrs Granville, Mrs Norman and Mrs Shephard.
Who's Who in the Zoo with Room 27
In week nine we will be attending the zoo. We have started preparing for this excursion by familiarising ourselves with the layout of the zoo and the animals on display.
Students have completed a range of activities including planning their own zoo, writing a report on an animal they would like to visit at the zoo and writing about what they would do if they had a zoo.
Some students have also used their mathematical skills to buy animals for their zoo with a specific budget and buy and sell items in the souvenir shop.
Room 3 have been exploring the sensory rooms this term to see how we can better utilise the areas. We have enjoyed participating in a range of activities covering both Maths and Literacy outcomes. These are our favourites:
If you notice any suspicious activity on School Grounds, please contact Security on 9264 4771 or the Police on 131 444.

Cushions
The students in rooms 21 & 28 created cushions. They printed dots onto a piece of calico using fabric paint and pool cover. A fish was drawn , a paper stencil cut and the fish screen printed over the dots.
Curious Creatures
Celebrating Childrens Book Week is always fun. In Visual Arts we read the story, "Where the Wild Things Are", by Maurice Sendak. After viewing the illustrations, the students created a curious creature. The creature was drawn in felt pen and coloured with water colour pencils. These works of art were created by the students in rooms 2, 3, 21, 27 & 28.
Working with Textures
The students in rooms 2, 3, 21, 27 & 28 used real textures on a gel press to print implied textures.
Nyingarn Echidna
The students in rooms 2, 3, 21, 27 & 28 viewed a video story "Nyingarn Koorda Djinanginy" read by Beccy Garlett
Then they created a nyingarn or echidna from direct instructions. They used wax crayon and then added a dye wash.

I can honestly say I have enjoyed coming to work every single day. It has been a pleasure to serve the students, parents and staff of both schools and I have made some lifelong friendships. To the canteen volunteers & staff, past and present, thank you. It has been a pleasure to work alongside all you beautiful people without you all it would not have been possible.
To past and present P and C members thank for your support and kindness.
I wish you all a very merry Christmas and pray 2021 is a better year for everyone.

Our campus Yarning Circle is completed and looks fantastic. Students have enjoyed the opportunity to use the space. The design on the wall represents the Noongar seasons.
We would like to thank Acacia Collard again for her hard work and creativity in making this a special place for our students, staff and school community.
