Lunch at Parliament House
On Thursday I attended a lunch at Parliament house together with Celeste De Villiers (school Board community member) and Beldon Education Support Centre Principal and Board chair. Emily Hamilton, member for Joondalup invited us to attend. It was very formal, and it was a lovely opportunity to see those in sitting at the time and listen for a while.
Parent Morning Tea
We will be hosting a parent morning tea on Friday 4 December at 9:00am in Admin 2 – J Block. Please let Kellie know if you can attend. There is no set agenda for this get together, it would be lovely to share a cup of tea and catch up.

Room 29 went under the sea this term to learn about habitats and the ocean animals in it. We have had many great adventures. We experimented with texture in our art work and made lots of different ocean animals.
Some of us got dressed up for Book Week and we had a fabulous time listening to the stories in the story nooks.
We have continued to learn new concepts in our Maths and English lessons. The teachers are very proud of us and the progress we have made. We are certainly ready for Year 1!

Cooking Around the World with Room 26
Our 2020 Finale!
This term has been a fun, busy time and we are looking forward to more as we finish 2020!
Cooking from Different Countries
As we have travelled around the world learning about the different countries and where they are, we have also explored the food from each country. We enjoyed cooking different dishes and tasting food we haven’t tasted before! Some favourites included Boerewors from South Africa, fried rice from China, Brigaderios from Brazil and did you know Rocky Road is an Australian creation? Around the early 1850’s Rocky Road was created as a way to sell confectionary that had gone stale after its long trip from Europe. It was mixed with locally grown nuts and cheap chocolate to make it taste better! During NAIDOC week we cooked damper, it was very messy and yummy!
The Yarning Circle
Our school has had a Yarning Circle installed. In Aboriginal culture yarning and storytelling are very important. We enjoy sharing stories together. Yarning is like having a chat. The yarning circle is a place of harmony that provides a safe place to talk to and listen to others. Yarning together is focused on talking about our strengths. We really enjoyed painting the stumps for our Yarning Circle and feel proud that we have helped to make this great learning space. It is a great place for storytelling.
World Water Week
World Water Week was in week two of this term. We learned about the water cycle and talked about the things we do every day that use water. We had fun acting and getting our classmates to guess what we were doing to use water. We also found out some very interesting facts about water. We found out that water is constantly being recycled so the water you drink today could be the same water dinosaurs drank millions of years ago! And a person can live about a month without food, but only a week without water!
Thursday 5 November saw students particpate in the P&C annual Colour Run. Wearing white tshirts and cool shades they completed as many laps as they could, dancing to music while turning psychedelic from all of the colours.
Music Rocks Australia - Badlands
We are looking forward to our students performing in front of family and friends at the last Music Rocks Concert for 2020. We do have a bit of a Jumanji theme going for this one and our students, after a overcoming so much with the full year under their belts, are going to sound amazing!
As usual, we make a video especially for our musicians and families to see. We are giving each family a complimentary ticket when they return the nomination slip back to us in rehearsal so no one is counted out. The nomination form (attached) was handed out in hard copy too this week.
Tickets are available to purchase through Oztix on the link below ( remember that you will get 1 complimentary ticket)

On Thursday 19 November students from Room 9 and 16 went to Belridge Secondary Education Support Centre for Market Day. Students have been making Christmas themed wares over the last few weeks and had the opportunity to sell them to the school community. Students had a fun day selling their wares and buying items themsleves from other stalls.
Surprise Visit From a Past Student
On Friday we had a suprise visit from a past student, Liv. Both Liv and staff enjoyed catching up and its great to hear that she still reads our Newsletter. Liv arrived at Literacy time and read a story to the students in Room 25. Was great to see you Liv!
The students in Rooms 2, 3, 21 & 28 worked with the element of line and pop-sticks to create a picture. They pasted their favourite picture onto paper.
Marbles in a box were used to mix together blobs of primary coloured paint. The random coloured lines made interesting abstracts.
