English (Literacy) Resources

At Joondalup ESC, we use a balanced literacy approach. This acknowledges that all children do not learn in the same way. On this area of the site, you will find resources categorised by the ability level of your child.

Pre Emergent- If your child is at the early stage of their communication; learning to use their communication device or learning how to communicate basic needs and wants this link will provide resources to support you.

Emergent learners – If your child is still working towards attaining 90% knowledge of letter names and sounds, this link will provide resources to support you.

Conventional learners – If your child has a strong understanding of letter names and sounds, and are developing their ability to use this knowledge for a purpose, this link will provide resources to support you.

Writing – In this section you will find a range of resources to support you with developing your child’s writing skills.

Games and Activities – This is a collection of different tasks you can do with your child to support their literacy development.
