Assembly
Last Friday our middle primary students hosted the Joondalup Schools assembly with a space theme. Our students were absolutely fabulous, spoke into the microphone clearly, were respectful and patient on stage and knew all the movements to the performance. Congratulations to all students and staff involved, for all the hard work practicing and making costumes.
Camp
Our Year 6 students have been at camp at the Keith Maine Centre this week. Together they have engaged in a number of activities at Whiteman Park and in the community.
Faction Carnival
Congratulations to Green Faction who won the day with the most faction points at our faction carnival.

The day was a wonderful day and Joondalup Schools worked together to try and make the day as fun and smooth as possible. It was the first time in many years the carnival was held on the school grounds, and it made the day effortless for students and staff who could take a break, use familiar facilities, go back to the classroom if they needed to, and take some time away if they needed it. Mr Lee was an absolute super star planning the day and thinking of everything! Thank you to all the families and friends who came to support students, and for cheering all day!
School Review
On Tuesday 20 October Joondalup Education Support Centre will be engaging in our school review. Directors from central office, and peer reviewers come to the school to talk with staff, our board and families to learn about our programs, student progress and how we are improving. A report is written and published after our review. Our last whole school review was in 2016. It is a really exciting time as we don’t often get the opportunity to share the wonderful things we do at school, and how everything we do is linked to student progress and development.
Happy Holidays
I would like to wish everyone a happy and a safe school break. The weather will be warming up and it will be a great opportunity to get outside, and enjoy our parks and playgrounds. I look forward to seeing everyone back on the first day of term four, which will be Monday 12 October.

Blasting into Space with Room 3
On Friday we had our school assembly, we were AMAZING! We have been learning all about space this term and therefor this was the topic of our assembly. We learnt a dance routine to the song ‘Final Countdown’, decorated planets to show the audience and even made our costume accessories. In room 3 we made space helmets with papier mache and jet packs with bottles, it was so much fun.
Djilba
Djilba is a transitional time of the year, with some very cold and clear days combining with warmer, rainy and windy days mixing with the occasional sunny day or two.
Djilba season is a time to look for the yellow and cream flowers starting en mass.
This is the start of the massive flowering explosion that happens in the South West. This starts with the yellow flowering plants such as the Acacias. Also colours that are around at this time of year are creams, combined with some vivid and striking blues.
Acacia
The Students in room 27 viewed Acacias and then using cardboard, pom poms and acrylic paint printed these lovely sprays of acacia or wattle.
Astronauts
The students in rooms 2, 3, 21 & 28 made themselves look like astronauts falling from the sky.

The after school garden club has had a fabulous term with many activities undertaken by students, parents and staff. A big thank you to all involved as this program would not run without you.
Garden Club will be back next term from weeks 2 to 7. It will now be on a Monday. Fill in the attached form if you would like to join this club. Kindy and Pre Primary children will need an adult to attend with them.
Our recycling programs near the front office have recommenced
Please continue to bring in:
- Batteries
- Dental hygiene packaging including toothbrushes
- Coffee pods (make sure they are DRY and bagged)
- Ring pulls from cans of drink (collection point is in the library)
- Plastic bottle tops (leave on the Grow Free Cart)
- Beauty product packaging
Remember that our Grow Free Cart is set up near the office.
"How does the cart work?" We have a simple answer: you give what you can, and take what you need. There are no prices, no bartering, no trading, no value. Like you would to family and loved ones.
Exploring the Weather with Room 27
This term in Geography we have been exploring the weather. Students have been learning about climate, the types of climate within Australia and the seasons.
We have read a variety of fiction and non-fiction books and also created our own class books. Some students have painted their wintry scenes and completed a scavenger hunt looking for signs of spring. We have had a visit from a lamb and are lucky enough to have nesting birds outside our classroom.
Important Therapist Information
On 20 October Joondalup Education Supprot Centre will be having our Independent Public School Review. On this day we have requested therapists to reschedule any appointments. Teachers have been in contact with students' therapists to advise them.
Thank you for your continued support of the canteen.
Please find attached the new summer menu for you to print off as we will not be sending out a paper copy, saving the trees. If you do not have access to digital technology, you can obtain one from canteen. Please note there have been a couple of small price increases.
We will also be remaining with pre-ordering of recess. Preferred method of ordering online.
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday break.
