Sporting Events
This is our last newsletter for the term! It has been a busy few weeks with swimming, and now getting ready for our faction carnival. Our carnival will be held this Friday at school together with Joondalup Primary School and it is going to be a great day! Please see further information below and on Compass. It would be lovely to see as many families and friends come along as possible.
Camp and upcoming events
Next term our Year 6 students will commence transition to high school, and will be heading off on school camp. We are also in the process of organising our Adventure Week in December which is always a really fun week. You can keep up to date with everything that is going on through Seesaw and Compass. Please ensure you check into Compass regularly as this is where you will need to give your child's consent and payment for upcoming events.
Next week on Thursday 19 September, we will have our Junior Education Support Network Carnival, with a date still to be advised for our senior carnival.
School Review
We have a school review in Term 4. This is where we showcase all the work we are doing, and show how our students are learning and growing. The date of our review is Tuesday 23 October. A director of Public School Review and a Principal come out to do the review.
Unwell students
Thank you to all families who are keeping their children away when they are unwell so they can rest and recover. This season seems to be particularly contagious for colds and other illnesses. When children are sick the best place to be is at home, resting and recovering.
School Parking
To ensure the safety of our students and staff, please use the parking areas and Kiss and Drive located in the surrounds of the school and not the staff parking area, located outside the administration building. This area is clearly signposted for staff parking only and is frequented by school buses in the morning and afternoon. Using this area to drop off and collect students poses a danger to anyone walking across the carpark.
Dogs on school grounds
There have been a number of incidents where dogs have been tied up outside school grounds and left unattended. At times students have become frightened when a dog has jumped suddenly, or barked unexpectedly, and no one is close by looking after the dog. If you are walking dogs to school please do not leave them unattended. If students are able to walk to class by themselves, it may be an idea to say goodbye at the gate, so you are able to stay with your dog.
Swimming
We survived swimming lessons! Although it was not the best time of the year to go, students made the most of it, and enjoyed swimming every day. Students progressed well with their water awareness and competency, and everyone will have received their certificate by now. This year we were at Aqua Motion, Wanneroo. Having students prepared to go, with oodies, goggles and thongs made everything run extra smoothly.
Next year our swimming lessons will be at Craigie Leisure Centre in Term One, weeks 9 and 10.
R U OK? Day
To recognise R U OK? Day this Thursday, students can come to school dressed in yellow and black. No gold coin donation is required. The mission for R U OK? is to get everyone to have more conversations about how they are doing. It is about checking in with family, friends and classmates to help them get through tough times.
Absentees
As of Monday 14 October 2024 text messages to 0438 909 431 for student absentees will no longer be in use. Please send absentee messages via your Compass App. If you require further assistance, please call the office on 9233 5800.
If you notice any suspicious activity on School Grounds, please contact Security on 9264 4771 or the Police on 131 444.
We have had a very busy, fun filled time throughout Term 3. We have completed two weeks of swimming lessons, we had lots of fun making progress and learning new skills in the water. We have also been participating in the premiers reading challenge, aiming to read as many books as we can.
Our highlight was Book Week and seeing all the amazing costumes in the parade. We shared some time with our buddy class and decorated the quadrangle using chalk. It turned out to be a big explosion of colour and art! We would like to share some happy snaps of our costumes with you.
The next thing we are looking forward to is our assembly item ‘The Cha Cha slide’ which we will be performing in Week 10.
Faction Carnival Friday 13 September 2024
Faction Carnival
We are thrilled to announce that our annual Sports Carnival will take place next Friday, 13 September! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in a day full of energetic fun and friendly competition.
Event Details:
- Date: Friday, 13 September.
- Activities: Running races and team games
- Location: Joondalup Primary School Oval
The Sports Carnival is designed to encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and physical fitness, all while having a great time. We invite you to come and cheer on your child as they take part in the festivities.
Students will return to the class at the beginning of lunch. The students will be directed to their class teacher by the announcer and walked to class. Once the students have their food, they can eat either with their family on the oval, on the specator side, or in the usual seating area. The students cannot go and eat with another family; they can find friends after eating. Fruit will also be distributed during the day, that has been generously provided by Woolworths Joondalup.

Welcome to the latest update from our vibrant art room!
Our talented students have actively participated in the unique and vibrant AWESOME Festival, showcasing their creativity in the Little Impressions Arts—Art from the Heart—A3 Collage project. We are proud to announce that these selected artworks will be displayed in the foyer of the State Theatre Centre of WA from 24 to 28 September, open daily from 10am to 3pm during the festival's public season.
Congratulations to
Room 9: Hamish, Adhi, Dom, Kai, Radhesh, Clara, Kaiden, and Reece.
Room 1: Xander, D’ari, Kieran, Dhven, Corwin, Ruben, and Eddy.
Room 3: Jaxon, Henry, Teddy, Moses, Jake, and George.
Our students have been busy creating their own Party Pineapples, and the results have been spectacular. This project allowed the students to explore new techniques and experiment with various media, including paints, ink, markers, and oil pastels. Their vibrant and imaginative pineapples have been a massive hit among their peers, showcasing their creativity and newfound skills.
From bright colours to unique patterns, each pineapple is a masterpiece in its own right. The enthusiasm and artistic growth demonstrated by our students have been truly inspiring.
Stay tuned for more updates on their artistic journey!
P&C News
It has been a busy few weeks in the P&C with members and parent volunteers giving up many hours to help plan events and be there on the day to help support sales, ticket scanning, set-up, pack-up and other general support roles. Thank you to everyone who has helped over the last few weeks. These events have included:
- 2024 WACSSO Conference– Two P&C members attended the two day conference to learn more about fundraising ideas, communication, compliance and hear from other delegates and guest speakers, including the Education Minister, Hon Dr Tony Buti MLA
- Father’s Day Stall– A great success with a wide variety of gifts available and over $600 raised for the school!
- Icy Pole Fridays– Cooler weather is not slowing down the kids racing over to grab their icy poles. This will continue on most Fridays, depending on volunteer availability.
- PJ Disco– Nearly 30 volunteers helped 300 kids over 3 sessions had an absolute blast with music, lights, glow merch and dancing! What’s even better is this year we gave every student free entry! We can only do this thanks to the fantastic fundraising efforts and contributions from our whole school community, so thank you.
And we’re still not done for this term…Friday 13 September is Faction Carnival day and the P&C will be running 'Morning Tea by the P&C' in the morning (9-12pm), available to students, parents and teachers. Come and visit us to grab some yummy morning tea.
If you can help with donating anything like cakes, drinks and snacks or can come help out at the stall on the day (even if it's just an hour) – please contact Lisa on hello@joondaluppspc.tidymail.co.
In Term 4 we will have two more big events. See attached info for the adults Quiz night (not long now) and remember Colour Run will be on 7 November. More info will be available soon.
The Minister for Education has recently announced cost of living measures to improve access to vital water safety skills for families across our state. Please find details regarding free Vacswim lessons below.
VacSwim free this summer
VacSwim will be offered free to families of children aged 5 to 17 during the school holidays. In addition, where venue entry fees apply these will be free for each child participating in VacSwim. This will remove financial barriers for many families. To ensure as many children as possible can access swimming lessons there will be an initial enrolment of one program per child, with additional programs offered, where available. VacSwim summer enrolments are now open and close on 16 October 2024.
