Let's Talk with AAC
As mentioned in last weeks' newsletter we will be sharing with you some of the Key Word/Auslan Signs that we use at school. This fortnights' focus is asking “how are you?” with the responses “good,” “bad” or “okay.”

Remember these signs can also be used throughout the day in a number of different ways. For example:
- When eating/drinking- That tasted “good,” “bad” or “okay”
- When playing a sport- “good” shot, “bad” tackle, “good” win, “bad” loss/score, “good” throw/jump/running
- Commenting on things- that looks “good,” “bad” “okay”
- Playing with toy cars- that’s a “good” car, Oh no! The cars crashed. That’s “bad”
- Playing card games- Oh no!! I have to Draw 4 (UNO) That’s “bad,” “good” match (Memory)
These are just a few examples of different ways you can use these signs throughout the day. Please remember to speak to your classroom teacher if your childs signs differ from the ones we are teaching so we can adjust for your child.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s communication please contact your classroom teacher or an AAC Co-ordinator.
