Principals Report

Welcome Back
Term three has started smoothly, and it is lovely to see all students back and ready to learn. Many of our building works have been completed over the holidays and our school is looking great! Classrooms have had the evaporative air conditioners and old gas heaters removed, room 21 and 22 have had new skylights installed, new fencing and gates have been installed in the Kindy area, an outdoor sink has been installed in our sustainability area and permanent bins have been placed around the campus. We also have a number of new projects that will be happening between now and next term.
We will be installing softfall in our pirate playground and out the front of rooms 26 and 27. Undercover walkways will be installed outside our new classrooms so students can transition to them without getting wet, a fourth flag pole will be installed so we can fly out Torres Strait Islander flag, a pathway will be laid from our new Kindy gate to the existing pathway at the playground, and play equipment will be installed in the junior playground and senior oval specifically for our students.
You may have also noticed a large boat in the Kindergarten play area. This has been very kindly donated by Vision and his family. As soon as we have secured a tradesperson to dig an area out and install it will be ready for our junior students to play with.
Events
This term we would like to welcome families back with some exciting events we have coming up. Our campus Faction Carnival will be held on Friday 11th of September on our school grounds. Families and friends are welcome to come to this event, and we will be sending out some information on how you can be part of the event safely.
Our parent morning teas have been scheduled for Friday 14th August and a representative from SECCA will be coming out to talk to parents. Our middle years’ students will be hosting the whole school assembly on Friday 18th September.
Our after school programs have resumed this term too. Craft Club, Music Rocks and Garden Club have all started.
Individual Education Plan Meetings
Early in the term teachers revise and write new IEP goals for students. This is an opportunity for families to meet with teachers (if you want to) to discuss outcomes and priorities for the semester. If you would like to meet with your classroom teacher, please request a meeting. Teachers will also be getting in touch with you to see if you would like to meet.
Welcome to our New Staff
We would like to welcome Ms Chloe Hobson and Mrs Tracy Buckley to our school who will be teaching in room 22.

Mr Alessandro Notorianni has also joined us this term and he will be teaching STEM.
Good Bye and Good Luck Mr Critchley
It is with bittersweet emotion that I congratulate Mr Critchley on his new position at SEN:D (School of Special Educational Needs – Disability). Mr Critchley will be leaving us here at Joondalup and commencing a new position with SEN:D, where he will be continuing his work in STEM for students with disabilities. This is an amazing opportunity to work with many schools, students and staff. Rory has been a staff member at both Joondalup Education Support Centre and Joondalup Primary School for many years, and has been instrumental in making our school the wonderful place it is. I wish Rory and his family all the very best for this next new chapter, and look forward to working with him through SEN:D.
