As school starts to settle back into a normal routine, AAC class support has resumed. I have been working alongside teachers and education assistants to support students with their communication needs.

In Week 10 we will be running sessions to upskill staff on using TouchChat, LAMP Words for Life, and Key Word Sign. These sessions are a hands on workshops that are designed to give staff a basic understanding of these communication systems.

At school we also use Key Word Sign to support understanding and encourage language in our students. Next semester we will be starting a new initiative by sharing with you a Sign of the Week.  You will be able to view these signs in the school notice board outside the office or in future newsletters.  These signs will be demonstrated to your children in class and will hopefully become another tool they can use in their communication toolbox.
