The Indigenous people of Australia use many forms of communication to pass on their knowledge and for social interaction.

For Aboriginal people, language has a close connection to The Dreaming and spirituality, as well as to the land and social beliefs.

The book “How the Birds got their Colours” is based on a story told by Mary Albert of the Bardi people to Aboriginal children living in Broome, Western Australia.
