School Holidays

School_Holidays.jpg

We have made it to the end of the term! School holidays are from Saturday 28th September – Sunday 13th October.

School returns on Monday 14th October. I wish everyone a wonderful and safe holiday, and look forward to seeing you all back ready for the final term of 2019.

Maintenance and Minor Works Program

Earlier this week the state government announced that it will inject $200 million dollars over two years due to a new high priority on maintenance and minor works program for public schools. We are currently in the first phase of this rollout which can be used for a range of improvements to school infrastructure. Joondalup Education Support Centre has received $26,000 of the $35 million that was shared amongst schools. At Joondalup we are constantly improving and adapting our facilities and making them safer environments to learn, as well as more conducive to learning.

Senior First Aid – Staff

At Joondalup Education Support Centre we take health, safety and wellbeing very seriously. It is an expectation that all staff will have their current Senior First Aid qualification. On Saturday 21st September our whole team came to school to update our qualifications. We spent the day learning about the most up to date treatments for injuries, bites and stings as well as CPR and resuscitation.

An Evening at Parliament House

On Tuesday evening members from the Joondalup Schools P&C were invited by Mark Folkard WA Member for Burns Beach to attend Parliament House for a formal dinner, tour and discussion. Mark Folkard was extremely informative about the history of Parliament House, and took us on a tour and shared stories about what has happened over the years.

We were treated to a lovely meal, and the P&C discussed things important to our students and community. It was a great opportunity to speak and be heard.

Joondalup Primary School – New Principal

This week the incoming Principal at Joondalup Primary School was announced. Carol Selley has been appointed and will commence in week 4 next term. Carol is the current substantive Principal at Karrinyup Primary School. Tammy Hanrahan will continue her role as Associate Principal when Carol arrives.

Sustainability – Royal Show

Ms. Bennett and her Garden of Weedin’ team have two entries for the Royal Show garden competition this year – a vegetable cart and scarecrow. If you are going to the Royal Show be sure to check out the agriculture section and our entry.
