Our after school clubs are up and running and have been very busy! Craft Club, Garden Club, Music Rocks Australia and After School Sports are a big hit with those students participating. Staff are currently meeting to prepare for the Twilight Lantern Parade which is hosted by the City of Joondalup and will be held on Saturday 6^th April.

Notes have gone home to families and a weekend workshop will be held on Sunday 10^th March for families to come to school to help put our creation together. This year the theme is Earth, Star, Moons. Joondalup Education Support Centre will be putting together one large project that will be held by all students rather than individual ones. Save the date and come down to support everyone in the parade!

Russell Hahn – Principal of the Primary has taken some long service leave, with the plan to retire at the end of term 2. It was Russell’s last day at the school last Friday after 10 years of leadership. During this time he has been a strong advocate for all students on the campus, both Primary School and Education Support Centre students. Russell has been an instrumental driver in making our 2 schools closer, and encouraging a “campus” culture, and ensuring that we are “Joondalup Schools” and in this together. On a personal note I would like to thank him for the years of advice and collegiate support. On behalf of all everyone at Joondalup Education Support Centre I congratulate Russell on am amazing career, and wish him all the very best in the future.

A reminder that we have a parent morning tea next Friday morning tea at 9:00am. All parents are welcome! This first morning tea will be a bit of a meet and greet, and we can set some dates and organise guest speakers for future parent meetings.

Open Night

The annual Open Night is on Wednesday 6^th March. It is a great opportunity to walk through your child’s classroom, look at their work and have an informal chat with their teacher. There will also be a sausage sizzle on the night. If you wish to have a detailed discussion with your child’s teacher, please make an appointment to see them on another day. The sausage sizzle will start at 5.00pm and the classrooms will be open from 6.00-7.00pm.  The Campus will be running a free raffle, every parent that visits their child’s class will receive a raffle ticket. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 8^th March. The prize is a $25.00 canteen voucher.

Conference

All staff will be participating in the annual Joondalup Learning Community Teaching and Learning Conference at Rendezvous Hotel on Friday 1^st March. The theme for this year’s conference is Empowered Connections

The keynote speaker is Justin Coulson – 4 steps to Enormous Emotional Intelligence.    After a successful radio career Justin returned to school in his late 20's where he earned his psychology degree from the University of Queensland and his PhD in psychology from the University of Wollongong. Since then he has written multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and scholarly book chapters, as well as several books and ebooks about parenting, including the 21 Days to a Happier Family (Harper Collins, 2016) and 9 Ways to a Resilient Child (Harper Collins, 2017). Justin is also a highly sought-after international speaker delivering keynote speeches and workshops to boost wellbeing and improve relationships for parents, teachers, students and employees and students.
