Our sensory room is a fun and engaging environment where students can come in and explore the equipment and engage in a range of different learning experiences. Each session is aimed at supporting communication, sharing and turn taking, following instructions and working on gross motor skills. A lot of these goals are supported through music and song. The stretchy band has proved to be a particular favourite where the children have enjoyed acting out songs. 

This term Sensorium have been to visit. We took the opportunity to create a water theme in the sensory room to support Sensorium’s Oddysea theatre. Children have enjoyed the Oddysea book and music and have been acting out the story using shadow puppets. 

It has been great to see the children’s confidence growing as they explore the sensory room activities.
