Principal's Report

Swimming Lessons
We are fast approaching our in-term swimming weeks. This year we will be going to Aqua Motion in Wanneroo. We have 2 sessions with lower and upper primary students and there is a short turn around time. Unfortunately there is only a small public changing area, which does not give the space needed for students to change at the swimming pool. Instead, students will change into and out of swimmers at school. For this reason it is really important to send in thongs or slides, and a towel/dressing gown/oodie which can keep students wrapped up as they return to school. Goggles for students is also advised.
Please make sure to clearly name all pieces of clothing.
Parking
We are transitioning from the rainy season of Makuru to Djilbra and are experiencing lots of cold wet mornings and afternoons. This can make dropping and picking your children from school difficult. Please refrain from stopping on the road and having children get out of the car in traffic, as it is very busy. Parents of students in the junior area are being asked for feedback about meeting staff at the gate to try and alleviate the congestion during drop off and pick up times.
NAIDOC Week
Last week was the school’s NAIDOC Week! NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for to learn about and celebrate First Nation cultures and histories. Throughout the week the students participated in a range of in-class activities including bracelet making, shared books and stories, and recognised the achievements of Aboriginal people. Derek Nannup made a visit to the school and spent the day completing activities with groups of children. In between burst of wet weather, Friday’s family picnic day commenced with an Acknowledgement of Country beautifully presented by Mickeel, included music from the choir and a drumming performance, and ended with a highly competitive AFL Game.
