We are now over halfway through Term 2 and the students in Room 23 have been working hard and learning lots! We have been lucky enough to participate in Sensorium sessions this term. The show this year was called ‘Ten Little Things’. We all enjoyed all the wonderful play and sensory experiences during our three sessions.

We have started our new Talk 4 Writing unit using the text, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. We began this unit of work by having our ‘hook’ during one of our Fun Friday sessions with some other junior classes. We had a variety of activities about caterpillars and butterflies such as sensory play, painting, playdough and role play. We used these activities to explore everything about these bugs so we were ready to learn our new story.

We have been using ALD boards and puppets to learn and retell the story. We have also been creating wonderful crafts and activities during our literacy and numeracy sessions.

We are looking forward to finishing the term by innovating our story and creating our own whole class story.
