Principal's Report
Kaya, We have had a busy few weeks and lots of things have been happening around our school.
Jan is on holidays!
Jan Tucker will be taking some extended leave beginning this week. Jan is our longest serving staff member and has seen every student, staff member and parent arrive, learn, and graduate over the years. Jan has a wealth of knowledge she has been sharing with us, in preparation of taking leave. We wish Jan all the very best, and hope she visits us soon!
Sensorium
Sensorium have been performing to our junior primary classes each week, creating a multi-sensory experience while reading the story “Ten Tiny Things”. Our students absolutely love that they can explore, move and try all the different experiences. Last week students were looking at lots of tiny things with magnifying glasses.
Cross Country
Not long ago Joondalup Schools had our annual cross country race at Windemere Oval. Joondalup ESC are so proud of Xander, who has qualified to make the Joondalup Primary School interschool team! How amazing! Xander will be joining the rest of the team to compete at the interschool carnival in a couple of week. Later this term Reece and Hamish will be joining the Primary School in the Winter Sport Carnival. Both boys have been selected for the netball team. This year some students have an opportunity to compete in a lawn bowls competition and some of our Year 5 and 6 students will be competing.

Sensory Equipment
Our new sensory equipment has arrived! Check out our Facebook page to see our students trying everything out. We have an indoor swing, musical trampoline and balance beam, and vibrating mat. All of these are blue toothed and can have activities attached. Our students have given us “thumbs up” to the new equipment. We are also almost finished creating our new “Blue zone” which is attached to B Block. The Blue zone will have a small trampoline, swing and other equipment to give students a place for a movement break all year round. We have called it the “Blue zone” as we have installed blue soft fall on the ground, and on the walls so students can rock on peanut balls and push off the wall if they wish to.
P&C Day WA
This Friday is P&C Day WA. On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank the members of Joondalup Schools’ P&C Association for their tireless work. Over many years, numerous volunteers have given time, shared their enthusiasm for the school community and been committed to projects. Because of their efforts, our students have been the beneficiaries in so many ways including improved playground spaces, literacy and mathematical resources, camp and swimming lesson subsidies, choir t-shirts, and a fully funded in-school performance. We are extremely grateful that we have such a strong P&C who give so much to make things possible.
The next P&C meeting will be held on Wednesday 29 May at 7.00 pm. Please come along and see how you can contribute to this group who do so much for the school.
Starlight Foundation Fundraiser
This Friday the school captains have organised a fundraising day for the Starlight Foundation. Children are encouraged to wear purple or gold or both, or come dressed in a superhero costume. Please bring a gold coin donation for the day.
