Art with Ms Thornton

Penny_Thornton.JPG

I am delighted to share with you the exciting art projects that have been unfolding in the creative realm of our Year 5 and 6 students. Through engaging activities and hands-on experiences, our artists have been improving their skills and unleashing their creativity in the world of visual arts. Warm and cool colours have taken centre stage as students create stunning silhouette cityscapes. By experimenting with warm and cool colours, our students have brought to life captivating city skylines with reflections that showcase their understanding of colour theory.

In addition to exploring the magic of warm and cool colours, students are investigating the world of lines in art. Understanding the different types of lines and their significance in creating art is a fundamental aspect of their artistic journey. One particularly engaging activity that sparked joy among our students was painting with spaghetti paintbrushes. This sensory approach to painting added a playful element to their creations and allowed them to experiment with texture and mark-making.

Furthermore, students have been captivated by the beauty of spirals in art. By practising painting spirals to create a charming night sky, these students have skilfully combined elements of painting and collage to bring a cityscape to life.

We are immensely proud of their dedication and artistic achievements, and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and exploration in the visual arts program.
