The Sensory Room is a fun and engaging environment where students can come in and explore different activities and engage in a range of different learning experiences. During class sessions in the Sensory Room, activities are aimed to work on several different goals such as communication skills, sharing, and turn-taking. We also work on following instructions and on gross motor movements. Many of these goals are supported through music and movement. The stretchy band has proved to be a particular favourite where the children have enjoyed acting out songs. We have explored a variety of activities during our sessions. The light table has been a big hit where we have worked on number, shape and colour. We are learning to take turns and share while using our new switch adapted toys. 

From week to week you can notice changes in the children’s confidence in not only accessing equipment but also engaging with their peers.
