Principal's Report

Kaya families
Welcome to Semester 2. Hopefully families met with classroom teachers to discuss reports and upcoming IEP’s. Families should be receiving IEP’s in Week 5 this term.
Swimming Lessons
You may be aware that HBF arena are currently undergoing significant works to the swimming pools. Unfortunately, this will impact our swimming lessons. We do not want our students to miss out, so we have organised for swimming to happen at Craigie Leisure Centre this year. Swimming lessons have now been scheduled for weeks 1 & 2 in Term 4 at Craigie Leisure Centre. We will have afternoon lessons, and more information will come out later in the term about the logistics to ensure that we are able to get back to school by the end of the school day. Families (PP – Year 6) should have already received permission notes about swimming next term.
Sensorium
This year Sensorium is visiting us! Sensorium create custom made sensory theatre experiences which explore all the senses. They will be performing with our upper primary students each week for 4 weeks starting on Friday 4 August. We are really excited for their new story “10 Tiny Things.” Last year they performed “Big Rain Coming”.
Interschool Sport Carnivals
This year there will be two interschool sport carnivals, a junior and a senior carnival. The senior carnival will be held on Tuesday 5 September at Beldon Education Support Centre and the junior carnival will be held on Thursday 7 September at Creaney Education Support Centre. You will be receiving more information about the carnival next week when permission notes are sent home.
Book Week
We will be celebrating Book Week in Week 6 this term. There will be a fun assembly, a dress up day and activities throughout the week. You can start to think about your favourite character from a story to dress up as when the day arrives!
Parent Survey
Thank you to those who completed the parent survey. Results will be presented at our next Board meeting and be used to help us plan on how we can improve on areas as a school.
Family / teacher IEP meetings
Many families met with teachers during our staff development day on the first day of this term. We are after some feedback from families to see if you liked this or not, so we plan if this is something we do next year. Please let us know what you think about holding IEP meetings on the first day of Term 3.
