During our English sessions we have been learning the story ‘The Little Red Hen’ which follows the journey of the hen as she makes bread. Room 28 have been working very hard the past few weeks exploring how seeds grow into wheat and how flour made from the wheat is turned into bread. We wanted to help the Little Red Hen make and bake the bread, so we did! First, we got the ingredients ready. Next, we listened to and followed the instructions carefully. We had so much fun pretending to plant, water, cut and carry wheat the same as in the story and lastly, we got to knead, bake and eat our own bread.  Kneading was a challenge, but we persevered! The best part was when we got to taste the bread. Yummy! We talked about how the Little Red Hen might have felt when her friends did not want to help her. We also talked about how we would feel if our friends did not want to help us at school. We have many more exciting experiences for the children to explore and engage with as we continue learning about the Little Red Hen this Term.
