These students represent our student voice at our school, and work together with the captains in the primary school. You will be seeing and hearing from them a lot during the school year.
Our P&C had its first meeting on Wednesday evening and was well attended. We have representatives from both schools on the P&C who are already planning some great events for families and students.
Our school board held its first meeting of the year last night. Hwee Tan is our board chair and facilitates each meeting. The board is comprised of parents, staff and community members. The board’s function is to ensure that as a school we are making progress toward our business plan outcomes. This includes ensuring our students are progressing, and financial planning is sound. If you would like more information about the board please be in touch.
Dogs on the school site
From next week dogs (unless service dogs) will no longer be allowed on the school site. We have made this decision as we have a child with a severe allergy to dogs which results in an anaphylactic reaction requiring immediate first aid. We also have considered the growing concerns expressed by families and staff about dog poo in playgrounds and dogs weeing on playground equipment and drink fountains. If you walk your dog to the school it needs to be left at the gate. Alternatively arrange for your children to meet you at the gate rather than coming on to school grounds.
A HUGE thank you to Cate Brodie and her team at IGA Candlewood for the donation of $600 to our Joondalup Schools P&C. We are so grateful for your continued support of our school community.
Craft Club
Our craft club is back on! Craft club will be held on Tuesdays after school, and is run by Mrs Galt and Mrs Magookin. In the next newsletter, I will be able to share the projects they will be working on throughout the year.
IEP Meetings
IEP meetings with families have commenced. This is an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss outcomes to be worked towards and reported on for the semester. All families will receive a completed IEP for your child in week 7.
Kind regards
Natalie Hatton
