Principal's Report

Kaya!

Thank you all for supporting your children to transition back into school so seamlessly, as we know this is never easy after a holiday break. Students and teachers are already in full swing with a busy term of learning and special events ahead of us all. Some of the big-ticket items we have this term include the P&C Disco, junior assembly, football carnival, colour run, middle years assembly, Adventure Week, Enterprise Day and swimming lessons. We recognise this can be a costly term for families just before Christmas so please see the Office if you would like to commence paying instalments now for these activities, reducing the lump sum required at the time. Permission notes have begun to come home, and we appreciate you signing and returning these promptly.

This term students will enjoy a refurbished sensory playground and shade sails over both the senior and junior playgrounds, that were installed over the break. Plans are also underway for a new nature play area in the junior play area and seating and exercise equipment will be installed in the sensory playground in the coming weeks. There are a few more projects occurring across the campus including a new sitting area by the climbing frame and paint and oval works. Unfortunately, the oval is likely to be out of use for a few days next week as the turf will be aerated and I thank you in advance for your understanding as we minimise the foot traffic while it settles.

P&C Disco

The disco will go ahead on Friday 28 October and tickets are on sale now. I encourage you to get your tickets early, so you don’t miss out. In addition to a junior and senior session, there is also a new session that accommodates sensory needs. Please see details below to book your tickets.

Farewell

At the end of Term 3, we farewelled Mr Lee from his PE role at Joondalup Schools. Mr Lee’s jovial, thoughtful and enthusiastic approach will be missed by many. We wish him all the very best for his next adventure. Replacing Mr Lee in Term 4 is Mrs Debra Wallin who recently moved to Western Australia from the East Coast and brings many years of Education Support teaching experience. Mrs Wallin has already begun to get to know your children through relief teaching across the school in the past term.

Thankyou

I would like to make mention of our hard-working cleaners who do a wonderful job at ensuring our classrooms and verandahs are clean and tidy. COVID has had a long-lasting significant impact on school cleaners and our dedicated team have gone above and beyond to ensure the standard of cleaning and the health of our staff and students is paramount. We thank you very much. This Thursday, 20 October is Cleaner Appreciation Week so please remember to thank a cleaner!

Lost property

As we transition into the warmer months, please check that your child’s clothing is named so jackets, jumpers and hats can all be reunited with their owner. Lost property is placed on the hooks on the exterior of the Office building, next to the medical room.

No hat, no play in the sun

As a Sun Smart School, all children are required to have a hat to play outside. Whilst we have some ‘emergency’ hats, it is essential that children have their own hats. Included with the newsletter is the updated uniform order form.  The supply levels are very good.
