It has been a very wet and windy start to Term 3 but Room 23 have already been having a wonderful time exploring new stories and learning new skills. We have been really focusing on consolidating all the skills we learnt last term in fun, play based and hands on experiences where are developing our social skills with our peers.

We have been busy completing our first Talk 4 Writing story for the term, which is ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle.  We created our story map and use this to help us retell the story. We are thoroughly enjoying engaging in a variety of activities about caterpillars and bugs. At the moment our favourite activities are playing social skill games with our friends, where we are practicing sharing and taking turns; such as the dancing caterpillar game.

One of our other favourite times of the day, is our self-selected reading time. This is when we all choose our own stories to read after lunch each day. We enjoy reading stories with our friends and our teachers in class.

But wait… the most exciting thing just happened in Room 23… our silkworm eggs have just hatched!!!! We are lucky to be able to watch some silkworm eggs go through the life cycle and turn into moths, which is very similar to caterpillars turning into butterflies, just like the story we are reading!

We are looking forward to another great term in Room 23 and can’t wait to watch our silkworms grow.
