Principals Report
Swimming
We have had a super busy two weeks with swimming lessons each morning at HBF Arena. Thank you to all parents who have made sure students were ready on time, and ready to swim. We have had very excited students attending swimming each day. Thank you to our tireless staff who volunteer to go into the water to support our students to make sure that swimming is enjoyable, and stress free for our students. Everyone was quite tired by the end of the two weeks.
NAPLAN
Last week Joondalup Primary School engaged in NAPLAN testing. As you would be aware there were a few glitches in the system with the transition to online testing across the country. The difficulties connecting were widespread across schools. Although Joondalup Education Support Centre did not participate in NAPLAN this year we support the Primary School by ensuring we do not use any technology (no computers, internet, laptops, smartboards, ipads etc.) until after testing was complete each day to give students the best chance at sustained connectivity.
P & C
Our P&C have run a number of events throughout the Semester – the latest being at last weekend’s election. They have raised a huge amount of money over the last few events - $835 from the Easter raffle, $3085.52 from the Colour Run, and $583.85 from the Monther’s Day Stall. This is fantastic and could not have been done without the support by all families, thank you! The P&C have asked us for a “wishlist” of items to improve the Campus. We have given this to the P&C and they will make decisions about what they feel would be most beneficial to our Campus and will donate funds to the schools.
Red Faction Sausage Sizzle
On Monday the 27th of May, students in the Red Faction will be having a sausage sizzle at lunch time. The sausage sizzle is free, so students in red faction do not need to bring lunch in on Monday. The sausage sizzle is the prize the faction wins for having the most faction points in Term One this year.
Staff Development Day
A reminder that there is no school on Friday the 31st May as this is a Staff Development Day. Staff will be engaged in whole school reviews and strategic planning. School will not be open on this day. There is a public holiday on Monday June 3rd, and school will reopen on Tuesday June 4th..
Cross Country
Next Thursday the 30th of May is our whole Campus Cross Country. All PP – Year Six students will be a part of this, and it is held at Windemere Oval. Parents are welcome to come and watch if they like. Please see the timetable below to see when your child will be competing. Students can wear their faction tops on this day.
New Classroom
Our two new classrooms have arrived! Everyone has moved into their final classroom for the year now. Room 21 has now relocated to the new Pre-Primary Classroom – which is Room 29. The new classroom is lovely as it has kitchen and toilet facilities.
Room 22 has now taken over Room 21 and has an extra large classroom! Mrs Webber’s class will now be called Room 21.
WA Day
Joondalup Schools will be celebrating WA Week in week 6. As a campus we will have a number of tabloid activities happening on the oval on Thursday the 6th of June. This is also a free dress up day – and the theme is WA. Students may like to come along in their favourite WA sporting team attire – or anything that represents WA.
