On Friday 25 March, Joondalup Schools will be celebrating: 

As part of the Joondalup Schools Harmony Day activities, all students and staff are encouraged to wear orange – to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, inclusiveness, respect and sense of belonging for everyone.

Together with Harmony Day we will also be celebrating National Ride2School Day which is Australia’s biggest celebration of active travel. Students, families and teachers are encouraged to walk and/or wheel their way to school to discover the joy of riding and kick-starting healthy habits for the future. Wheels could include a bike, scooter, wheelchair, or skateboard, all of which encourage physical activity.

From 8:00am–8:30am there will be a staff member at nominated school gates (see map attached) and students will receive:

• a raffle ticket if they walked/wheeled their way to school
• an additional raffle ticket for decorating their wheels

Hold on to your raffle tickets as these will go to your classroom teacher and will go in to a Ride2School prize draw.

Students with wheels will be guided to a secured area on the oval where all bikes/scooters will be kept together in classroom groups for the day. Students are to take their own helmets back to their classroom (please label your child’s bike helmet and wheels for identification).

It will be great to see everyone wearing orange, decorating their wheels, joining in physical activity, and supporting both these events united together.
