hArt City of Joondalup project

In 2021, students from Rooms 1 and 26, teamed up to make a contribution to the City of Joondalup’s hArt project. The students were invited to do a drawing, painting or collage of something that is important to them in the City of Joondalup.

The students gathered together to brainstorm some ideas of places that were significant and had a special meaning for them. Many students chose to draw, with some adding an additional medium such as popsticks, or paper layers.

Some great ideas were showcased in their artwork including our schools own sensory rooms and sensory garden, our new playground, their own homes, Latitude, Zone Bowling, ECU and Neil Hawkins park, just to name a few.

Lisa Estrano, one of the event organisers, gave the following feedback:

"On behalf of the City of Joondalup, I would like to thank each and every artist who has created an artwork and contributed to this exciting project.  Also, a big thankyou also to all teachers involved! We wouldn’t be able to do this without you and hope you found the project easy to partake in and also beneficial to the students involved"

The art work will be on display as part of a bigger exhibition at the Hillary’s Boat Harbour and runs from Friday 11 March until Saturday 2 April.  There will be a free Family Fun Weekend event on 12-13 March to launch the event.  I am sure the students would love to see their artwork on display if you are able to attend.

Congratulations to all of our students for their amazing ideas and effort into their artwork.  We are so proud of you for representing our school with your creativity and passion.
