Principal Report
Kaya!
It is hard to believe we are already well into Week Four! Students and staff have settled into routine and the holidays now seem like a distant memory. It has been business as usual, with students laughing and learning and I am sure you are seeing some very tired children by the end of the day as they again build up their ‘school fitness’.
Some of you may have noticed that there has been a change to the condition of our oval and junior grassed area. We have been working with external contractors to resolve some ongoing issues with the reticulation over the past two years and this continues. We have noticed additional bore markings due to an increase in iron in the water and accelerated growth due to the additional reticulation testing. We are expecting that over the April school holidays there will be some major work occurring to rectify the issue permanently. Although we are very aware of the condition, we are doing the best we can and look forward to an improvement in the near future.
COVID-19 Communication
I thank you all for your understanding and patience in regards to restrictions and operating guidelines that are currently in place. I fully expect there to be further changes on the horizon and these may come at very short notice. As much as we would prefer to have plenty of time to let parents know, we may very well find ourselves in a situation where we need to move swiftly and at very inopportune times.
We will be taking direction from the Department of Education and the Department of Health in the event that we have a student or staff member test positive to COVID-19. If or when we get notified of a positive COVID-19 case at our school, we will communicate with you via a Schoolzine notification, text message and email. These communications may occur outside our usual hours of operation, between 6.30am and 9.30pm, in order to provide timely information.
Although we may hear directly from a family that a student has tested positive, we are required to wait for confirmation from the Department of Health and to follow their directions. If your child is unwell, we encourage you to keep them home and get tested. If a student becomes unwell while at school, we will contact you to collect them.
Congratulations to those students who received an honour certificate last Tuesday. A very big well done to our School Captains and Sport Captains who adapted so quickly to do an amazing job reading out all the certificates and announcements over the PA. They read with confidence and precision-absolute professionals!

Important Information to be returned to the school
It is vital that we update student information at the beginning of each year, as there are many changes that occur over the six-week holiday break. It would be greatly appreciated if the following forms can be completed and returned to the school as a matter of urgency, to ensure we have the most up to date information and permissions for your child. Even if you do not have any new information, please check the appropriate box and return the form unchanged, so that we can tick you off the list.

End of Day Play
Families are reminded that at the end of the school day, all children and parents are required to leave the school grounds in a timely manner. Children wishing to play at the end of the day are encouraged to access one of the community playgrounds in the area.

- Become a financial member ($1.00) as this allows you to vote.
- Nominate for one of the office bearer positions.
Canteen Update
We are very happy to announce that we have a new Canteen Manager! Please welcome Nicole who has a son in Year 5 at Joondalup Education Support Centre. Nicole says the school has literally changed their lives as a family. The Canteen will still be open 3 days a week until Nicole settles in, then it will be back to 5 days. Please give her a very warm welcome; we are so pleased to have her on board!
Marlene and Sandra have continued to work extremely hard to ensure that the school year started with our three-day canteen. As always, we are very grateful for their commitment to the school community.
Canteen Volunteers
We are ALWAYS looking for volunteers, in particular on Mondays and Tuesdays at the moment. Times are either 9am-11am, 11am-1pm or 9am-1pm. Shifts can be once a week, once a fortnight or even once a term, it all helps.
P&C Treasurer
Welcome to Bec – our new P&C Treasurer. Bec has a daughter in Year 2, and we are all looking forward to having her on the team. A massive thank you to our previous Treasurer Hazel, who did an outstanding job and is still helping us along the way! Everyone’s efforts are so appreciated; we could not operate without you all.
