Artists at Work
Splat the Cat
During Book Week the students attending Visual Arts enjoyed listening to the story of "Splat the Cat" by Rob Scotton.
The students worked with the elements of shape and texture to paint Splat in black acrylic. The eyes nose and inner ears were cut out and pasted on. Finally, the belly was painted with pink acrylic.

Doughnuts
More great artwork has been completed on the science theme, 'food different by design'. The students viewed work of Wayne Thiebald. Thiebald is well known for his artwork of food.

The students in the specialist class and rooms 16 & 27 sculpted doughnuts out of clay. The doughnuts were coloured with an underglaze and sealed with a clear glaze. Beads were added to look like sprinkles.
Halloween History
The history of Halloween was presented to the students.
Jack-O-Lanterns were then created by the students. Orange and red acrylic were used to paint the pumpkin. The mouth eyes and stalk were pasted on to create these cute collages.

The students in the specialist class and rooms 16 & 27 viewed the work of Pablo Picasso. Working in the style of cubism, students created a either a witch, Frankenstein or portrait of a person. Drawing from different viewpoints and using vibrant colours, created very effective abstracts. The work was done in felt pen and oil pastel.

Spooky Castles were created by the students in rooms 2 & 21. Acrylic paint was scraped across the page to make the bright evening sky. Working with the element of shape the students pasted on the silhouette of a castle. Spooky creatures or characters were then cut out by the teachers, as requested by the students and pasted on to complete the artwork.
