Exploring Feelings with Room 26

During Term 3, students in room 26 were involved in a number of exciting, fun activities.  We were lucky to have Miss Amanda each Wednesday to come and deliver our health lessons.  We learnt about our feelings by naming different feelings and we learnt how to recognise feelings on other people’s faces.  She played games with us and got us showing different feelings through our facial expressions.  We really loved her ‘yes’ and ‘no’ game and requested to play it each week!

Our Middle school assembly was a huge success.  It coincided with Book Week and it’s theme of “Old Worlds, New Worlds and Other Worlds”.  After weeks of dance rehearsals and costume preparation, we presented our item highlighting events from the “Old World”.  We danced along to the song “Dinosaur Stomp” wearing our costumes that we individually designed with a head, claws and feet to become our own dinosaur.  Well done to Lilly who received a certificate at this assembly.  We welcomed Lexi to our class who jumped right on in to join our assembly presentation.  A big congratulations to all of our class who were very brave to perform and speak at the assembly, and took on the challenge with such a positive attitude and great tenacity.

This semester we get to participate in a Music Rocks session each Wednesday.  Our class absolutely love these music sessions.  They get to choose the songs they play and the instruments to use.  We all get a turn to sing, play the keyboard, drums, or guitars.  One weekend, two of us, Finley and Harrison, performed as part of a bigger Music Rocks concert that involved students from other schools too.  So proud of them for getting up on stage, in front of an audience with a back-up band, stage lighting and all!

Our class was chosen to perform at the Abilities Expo at Crown because we love Music Rocks so much!  We performed “A Little Bit of Love” by Tom Grennan with Lexi, Ashleigh and Ciara on vocals, Finley, Harrison and Jake on drums and Lilly and Charlotte on the keyboard.  The Abilities Expo is a great event to showcase talents and also to have a look at opportunities available for supports and future work.  We enjoyed looking around at the stalls, meeting new people and collecting free items.
