Room 27
This semester we have started our learning journey about Australia’s States and Territories. Each week we have focussed on a new location.
We have been identifying its location within Australia by drawing it on our map and have also had to research important and interesting facts about it.

These are our favourite places and sightseeing attractions:
Siena: I would like to go to Queensland because it looks fun. like the coral reef.
Jacinta: I learnt about Wave Rock, kangaroos and boab trees.
Jake B: Sydney is a big city. It has a zoo and the Sydney Opera House.
Jake L: You can go to the zoo in New South Wales. It has good beaches too.
Xavier: Darwin has lots of crocodiles. You can go in the water and watch them eat.
Marko: I like the crocodiles in Darwin.
Chloe: I like the coral reef in Queensland.

This term we have also started our Talk for Writing journey. Talk for Writing is a unique approach that uses spoken activities to develop students writing skills. Our story was ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, together we created actions for significant words and rehearsed the text. We then completed many activities to enhance our sentence structure, imagination and characterisation.
After this, students were given the task to innovate the text by changing the characters in the story. We have all really enjoyed this part and loved reading our stories to our friends. We can’t wait for next term to see which book we will be reading next.
