Potato Olympics in Room 28

With the Tokyo Olympic games recently taking place, the students and teachers in Room 28 decided to create their own classroom Olympic events. Students participated in many different games over the week including Straw Javelin, Ping Pong Basketball, Balloon Tennis and Running Races to name a few.

Our students participated with enthusiasm and really enjoyed the opportunity to experience such a great range of activities. Room 28 students kept a keen eye on the medal count, cheering on all our classmates as they tried their best in each event.  We also loved watching the Tokyo Olympic games on the big screen whenever possible and cheering on our home country. Go Australia!

We also created our own potato Olympics! This was an amusing and engaging way for students to explore numeracy and literacy in Olympic events through their potato athlete. Students decorated and created their own athlete which then participated in different challenges. Some of the events include potato shot put, high diving potatoes (we made HUGE splashes), potato ramp sprints and spinning potato gymnastics. We had lots of fun laughing and exploring the many different sports held as part of the Olympics.
