After School Garden Club

Our small but dedicated group of students, parents and staff come together every Monday afternoon from 3.15 to 4pm to look after the garden.

We are planting seedlings and sowing seeds in preparation for a Spring Harvest.

There are still a few places available, see your teacher for a form or come on down to the garden with your child.

If you wander down to the Garden of Weedin you will see our lovely new stainless steel benches that will be used for potting, seed preparation and sorting of recycling materials.

Big news is coming regarding our Recycling programs, so stay tuned!

Well we have made progress this week with a lovely patterned concrete slab going down outside Room 34. This is where all our recycling programs will be based from. We are extending what waste streams we recycle, so we become even more sustainably aware. The future is in our hands and the generations that follow to stop using so many single use disposable items. The plan is to have recycling bins placed in this area.

Please continue to bring in:

• Batteries
• Coffee pods (make sure they are DRY and EMPTY). You can bag the grounds up and sent to school as well.
• Ring pulls from cans of drink
• Plastic lids from bottles (wash and remove inner seal)
• Containers for change bottles/cans (clean and LIDS removed). Place in the BIG blue recycling skip near the admin area

I attended a fantastic professional learning day where Sustainability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander priorities were delivered in hands on lessons for us to take back to school. Did you know these priorities are taught in many different learning areas such as Science, HASS and Maths?  Our school was acknowledged for our progressive journey in these two areas.
