Principals Report

Anna Eason.jpg

I hope everyone has managed to stay warm and dry over the past few weeks, as we have endured a few strong cold fronts. Unfortunately, this weather has also meant some illness across students and staff. If your child is unwell, please continue to keep them home and contact the school to let us know. If your child becomes unwell throughout the day, you will be contacted for further advice.

There has been an Olympic buzz across the school as teachers and students have followed the success of our athletes. This has included public announcements over the microphone and a torch relay! The inspiration will continue throughout the upcoming Paralympics, beginning on 24 August where approximately 174 athletes will represent Australia.

Combined Education Support Carnival

Save the date.png

The annual Combined Education Support Carnival date is Tuesday 7 September for students from PP-6. Lunch order bags will be coming home soon and more information will be following.

Carpark Open

The new carpark is now complete, with 14 new parking bays for teachers and an additional disabled parking bay. This will bring staff cars off the roadside parking bays, to free up space for parent parking.

Please be aware that the parking rules around the school have not changed and the City of Joondalup rangers are out and about issuing warnings and fines.  You cannot block driveway access, park under ‘no parking’ signs or park to block people’s line of vision down a street.  You cannot use the carpark that is next to the neighbourhood centre as it is not ours to use.

Dogs at School

It is a privilege to bring dogs onto the school site.  Please remember to always keep dogs on a lead and make sure that your dog is social enough to manage lots of children, noise and other dogs.  Dogs must not use school grounds as a toilet because no one wants to play in a space where there is doggie do-dos.

Kindy playground

Joondalup Schools have received $130 000 to redevelop the Kindy play space. The current structure and boat will remain and the Kindy/ PP teachers and EAs are looking at some of the options that have been given by the playground designer to complement this. It is expected that this will be completed over the December school holidays.

End of school Day

A reminder that all families should leave the school grounds at end of the day. Playgrounds including the space behind K Block are out of bounds.

Parent morning tea

Last week’s parent morning tea was a chance to have a general catch up and a chat over a cuppa. The next morning tea is scheduled for Friday 10 September and will feature a speaker from APM. Service Area Manager Jonathon Clark and a colleague Shauna Van Steensel will be presenting some information around NDIS and answering questions you may have. For catering purposes, please RSVP to Kellie Carter on kellie.carter@education.wa.edu.au to let us know you are coming.

IEP Meetings

Teachers have been working hard to complete individual education plans (IEPs) over the past few weeks and will be in contact to hold meetings with you about these. These meetings are an opportunity for you and the teacher to discuss your child’s goals for Semester 2. After the meeting, the teacher will finalise the IEP and a copy will be sent home for you to sign. Please return the signed copy to the teacher.

Book Week (Save the Date)

There will be a Book Week dress up day on Tuesday 24 August so start thinking about your costume ideas! More information will be sent out soon.
