Room 1
As a whole campus, we recently celebrated Reconciliation Week. In Room 1 we discussed what reconciliation means and created a display for the window to demonstrate our thoughts. A commitment was made for us to begin learning and using some Noongar words. We greet each other in the morning using “Kaya” which means “hello” in the Noongar language and when leaving in the afternoon we say “Boorda” meaning “goodbye”.
We are learning about the Aboriginal family (moort) structure compared to our own and the skills parents teach their children.

You may hear the students using the Noongar words for family members.
We all enjoyed our extra day off to celebrate WA Day and are making good use of the WA Day booklet from the West Australian.
