The students and staff of Room 21 have had a fantastic start to 2021.

We have been learning all about the Zones of Regulation, kind and unkind behaviours, and the size of our problems. We have also created a toolbox of preferred strategies we can refer to when we need help to return to the Green Zone, which is the optimal zone to be in for our learning. 

The focus book for week 5 was The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. We enjoyed listening to the book throughout the week and participating in literacy activities around the book. At the end of the week we all chose our favourite character and drew a picture of it and wrote a sentence about it.

We used our pictures as designs to construct a plasticine model from. We were all very proud of our awesome models!

We have enjoyed our weekly visits to the sensory rooms and the sensory playground where we have been focusing on kind and unkind behaviours, communication, and friendship skills.
