This week two of our teachers, Mae Jorgeson and Kirsty Spicer had the opportunity to fly to Kalgoorlie and present some professional learning to the staff at O'Connor Education Support Centre. They spent the first day with the admin and teachers, running a full day workshop on how to use and implement our whole school Maths assessment tool, and our new Foundational Skills Assessment. This was a busy day filled with questions, demonstrations, and lots of enthusiasm.

On the second day they presented at a whole school meeting to all staff, followed by a hands-on day in each classroom across the school. During this day they demonstrated how to communicate with students using Key Word Sign and PODD, how to administer the testing tools, and how to complete some discrete trials. At the end of the day, Mae and Kirsty hosted an hour long professional development session on discrete trial training, and the benefits of this best practice.

It was a fantastic opportunity to share the great things which are happening at Joondalup ESC, meet new teachers and EA's and support students with their learning.
