Book Week
We have had an exciting and busy couple of weeks at school. Last week we celebrated Book Week – Reading is my Superpower. All classrooms had special activities with our Book Week theme. Activities ran around the school during lunch times and students all around the campus got involved. Last Friday the entire school dressed up as their favourite book character. Our Senior students hosted the assembly which was all about reading.
The assembly was a fantastic way to end the week, and our students delivered an exceptional performance.
Year 6 Transition
Last Thursday Year 6 students commenced their transition to high school. All Year 6 students will be attending Belridge Secondary Education Support Centre.

Well, we are already half way through this term and what a busy start it has been. The students from Room 9 have been involved in NAIDOC Week, Interschool Cross Country, Science Week, High School Transition and Book Week.
The students have had a great time and have put together a compilation of their thoughts about the events.

Would you believe, by the time you read this newsletter we will have been on a Science excursion to Curtin University and still have Wellness Day, the ESC Sports Carnival, Pyjama Day and another High School Transition visit to go!!!!
We have had a busy start to Term 3. We are learning about all kinds of special places and wrote what about why a tree is a special place. We then typed our stories, chose a picture and learnt how to insert it on the computer.
This term we began Music Rocks and our class loves it! Check out the photos.
On Friday 16th August Room 3 had their very first session with their Buddy Class, students from Room 18 with Mrs Strating.
We began the session listening to a story about ‘Pig the Pug’ before moving off into groups to introduce ourselves and to meet some of the students. We had to share our name and one interesting fact about ourselves. To end this session, we got to have a dance party.
After recess we were lucky enough to attend Science Week with our Buddies. We got to join in with some amazing activities. Some of our favourites were: moon sand, shooting meteoroids, moon boots and using the B-stronauts.
Overall we had a fantastic day filled with lots of fun and exciting activities and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet some new friends.
Book Week and Birds
13 of the 36 books on the Children’s Book Council of Australia shortlist 2019 had birds on their cover? And 6 of those were about birds, or had birds as characters. Even the poster for CBCA Book Week has a bird on it!
The students in rooms 9 & 27 created a paper collage of a bird.
