We are well and truly into term four and there are so many things happening! We have just had our P&C Colour Run, which was a lot of fun! The P&C are waiting for all fundraising pledges to come in, and then they will announce the winners of some fantastic prizes this week.
Last week we received the news that we are finalists in the 2023 WA Education Awards – Excellence in disability and inclusion. This is an amazing achievement and we are really proud to be recognised for the work we do as a school. We have some judges coming out to our school this week to meet with staff and discuss specific things about the programs we run here at school. A huge thank you to our School Board Chair, Mrs Tan for nominating our school.
Staff engaged in a staff development day on Friday. As a staff we met in the city for some team building activities. It was really nice to be together as a team with time to work together.
Important notice
We are having a server upgrade on Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23November. We will have no internet during this process which impacts our computers and telephone system. As a result our phone lines, emails, and anything connected via internet will not work during these two days.
Therapy sessions 2023
Just a friendly reminder that therapy sessions will finish on Friday 1 December for the 2023 school year. We have Adventure Week the following week, and then we are in our final week of school. Next year we will be using J Block (currently our Associate office) as the therapy room. The space is bigger, has space for occupational therapy, and a private space for assessments or sensitive topics. We are aiming to have this new dedicated space ready for the beginning of the 2024 school year
Adventure Week – Week 9
It will soon be Adventure Week! We are busy planning the days. If you are planning to come to Outback Splash, or collect students early on any days please let us know. Please ensure permission slips and payments are completed by Thursday 16 November.

Reports will be completed and sent via email in the last week of school. Please ensure your contact details are up to date – including your email address. If you require a physical copy of the school report please let us know.

Room 26 learnt about First Nations People
This year we have spent some time enjoying a range of texts by First Nations people. It has been a wonderful way to engage and inform students of their stories, traditions, and rich cultural heritage.
We have learnt some Noongar words, and these are displayed in the classroom reminding the students of the significance of Indigenous language and how they relate to us all.
The students have enjoyed, and been engaged in, singing our welcome song “Wanjoo” and reading our Acknowledgement of Country.
School Captains Parliament House lunch
On Wednesday 8 November, School Captains together with Joondalup Primary School Captains enjoyed a tour and lunch at Parliament House, hosted by Emily Hamilton, Member for Joondalup and Ayor Makur Chuot, Member for North Metropolitan Region.
Everyone had a lovely day, as you can see from the pictures below.
In Room 3 we have been learning how to write a procedure. We have been learning the procedure ‘How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth’.
The students have been following different procedures in class to make a variety of things and to make students familiar with the procedural writing structure.
The students followed instructions on how to make their very own woolly mammoths!
If you have any old uniform your child no longer needs, please consider donating to the school.
We are particularly needing pants and shorts of all sizes.
Please bring to the front office if you have anything we can use.
