Welcome message from the Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to all returning and new families! We are happy to see everyone back happy and healthy and ready for another exciting year. For many students (and families), the six week holiday break can feel like a very long time and often draws to a natural close, with so many eager to return to school to see their friends and teachers. For some, the idea of returning to early mornings and the demands of school can be less than appealing.
All staff at Joondalup Education Support Centre are working hard to ensure a smooth and successful transition back to school life and the routines that are vital for your child’s success. Some actions you can take to assist in this, include:
- Providing and labelling your child’s belongings and required booklist items
- Ensuring your child arrives at their classroom on time for the beginning of school
- Communicating any changes in your child’s routine or home circumstances to the classroom teacher e.g. change in person collecting student from school
Canteen update
The P&C Association are working on finding a new canteen manager. From the beginning of Term 1 the canteen will only be open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
COVID-19 news
Joondalup Education Support Centre are continuing to take advice from the Department of Education, who are responsible for outlining the requirements for staff, students and parents to ensure school is a safe place. All adults are required to wear a mask indoors.
Please make the Front Office aware of any exemptions so that we can support your visit to JESC. Staff are permitted to remove masks when instructing students.
Following an audit of ventilation across all rooms, we have received a small number of air purifiers for classrooms. In addition to this, classroom windows and doors will be opened where possible, throughout the day, to increase the amount of airflow. As always, the safety of our students is paramount and we are doing everything we can to ensure well ventilated learning areas.
Therapy Meetings
We have a process for all requests for therapy to occur during school time, be it onsite or offsite. Many therapists have begun to contact the school, to schedule a meeting for onsite sessions and these will be communicated to you soon. An initial meeting between the therapist, parent, teacher and our Liaison Officer is required before any therapy can commence on school site. Where therapy sessions are scheduled offsite but during the school day, parents are required to complete a form with the details of the therapy times. This form can be collected from Kellie Carter, Liaison Officer.
All families will have received an email with a Parent Request Form for Onsite Therapy. Once we receive this form, we will then begin liaising with your therapy provider to organise the above process.

It was fantastic to see so many happy faces in classes today and the excitement of children who reunited with their friends in the playground. It’s going to be an exciting year and we expect that things may need to change as we go along. I want to assure you that we are ready for any scenario, to respond and continue to provide learning support for your children. Please let me know if you require any additional support, we are in this together.
