Our last few weeks at school have been very busy and exciting and it is hard to believe we have come to the end of the 2020 school year. For our year six students that have graduated and finished their schooling at Joondalup Education Support Centre, we celebrated with a lovely graduation ceremony on Tuesday morning together with the Primary School.
I would like to congratulate the following students for receiving commendation during the ceremony;
Citizenship Award: Lily McCain
Commitment to Excellence Award: Oliver Bruce
STEM Award: Luke Marshall
STEM Award: Hinepounamu Parker
Our year six students celebrated with a graduation lunch together at Grill’d after the graduation ceremony.
Last week we went to a number of different places during Adventure Week. Latitude, The Zoo, Lollipops and Outback Splash were all places we visited. Students had a fabulous time and can be really proud of the way they represented the school during this week.
I would like to wish all our year six students and families all the very best for your high school journey, and for those students who will be attending a different school next year, please make sure you keep in touch with us! I wish everyone a happy and safe school holiday, and look forward to seeing all students return on Monday 1 February 2021.

Room 26 Xmas and New year Greetings Song
(Sung to tune of Jingle Bells)
Twenty twenty, twenty twenty
Oh what a year it’s been!
But fun and laughter was the way
To make it through this scene
Oh …. now we look
To a new year
And all the hope it brings
We will show how great we are
And remember our best things!
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!
May this Christmas end the present year on a cheerful note and make way for a fresh and bright new year. In one of the most testing years so far, we hope this Christmas season fills your homes with joy, your hearts with love and your lives with laughter. Wishing you and your families a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and we look forward to seeing you in 2021! From all the staff and students in Room 28
Special Assembly - Friday 5 February 2021
2020 has been a very challenging year and we cannot wait to be able to look to the future. On February 5, 2021, Joondalup ESC will be hosting a smoking ceremony to wave goodbye to 2020 and welcome in the 2021 school year. Nick Abraham will be coming in to run the ceremony for us. Nick is the owner and lead guide at Warrang-Bridil (meaning 'Enlighten to Acknowledge' in Nyoongar language). Nick grew-up in Perth and spent his teenage years in and around the Native reserves of the Great Southern region of Western Australia, before permanently returning to Perth in 1979. This will be a whole school event and, as such, we encourage you to attend and take part. We will be gathering on the school oval at 8:50 to coincide with the commencement of the school day. If you are able to make it, we would love to see you there.
Cultural Appreciation Afternoon Tea
Last Friday afternoon, we were joined by some of our families for some afternoon tea, a look at our new yarning circle and wall mural of the Noongar Six Seasons. Students across the campus contributed their ideas to the stump painting and Acacia Collard from Acacia Cultural Designs created the contemporary artwork for the concrete and the wall mural. Students in Years 3-5 painted our stumps with the guidance of Acacia and Bev Shaw, our AIEO. Acacia has a nephew who attends Joondalup Primary School, Justin. Justin and his mother Allira, also came in on their weekends to help with the painting and we couldn’t be happier with the result! Our classes are already using this space as part of their lessons and discussions.
